Mission and History
Our mission at Saint Mary School is to assist parents in teaching their children how to live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and to prepare them for future education by teaching essential skills. Our school environment fosters the development of spiritual values from a Catholic perspective through prayer, worship, instruction, example and service. Our goal is to offer an academic program that develops the intellectual, physical, social and emotional nature of each child.
Saint Mary School was the vision of our late pastor, Monsignor Robert T. Bulman. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the original eight classroom building took place on July 1952. Upon its completion, the school was dedicated by the Most Reverend George W. Ahr, Bishop of Trenton on June 1953. The school officially opened in September of 1953 and was staffed by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Christian Charity and Penance and three lay teachers. Under the direction of our first principal Mother Euphemia Nash, Saint Mary School accepted two hundred eighty five students in grades one through six that year.
Currently, Saint Mary School has over six hundred and twenty eight students enrolled in grades K - 8. The campus elementary school consists of twenty six classrooms, a computer lab, media center, cafeteria and gymnasium. The Early Childhood Center for four year olds opened in September 2006, and currently serves over seventy three students. The school operates under the leadership of Monsignor Michael J. Walsh - Director, Charles Kroekel - Principal, Dennis J. Poracky - Assistant Principal and Marita Goworek - Coordinator.
Saint Mary School operates under the direction of the Diocese of Trenton and was reaccredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in April 2003.
